Configuration Dance Theatre Artists . “A Living Art Gallery” said Dance Magazine

Posted by admin on November 29th, 2009 and filed under artists gallery | 6 Comments »

ARTVOICE Best Dance Company Award 2008 and 2009. Joseph Cipolla, Configuration Dance Theatre Artistic Director, and Michael Shannon, Resident Choreographer, have been described as “The Dream Team” by The Buffalo News (2009 Jan 2).

The New York Times says their “innate classicism is the first great pleasure, an exciting contemporary thrust to their repertory.” Dance Magazine has called Configuration Dance Theatre “a living art gallery.”

CONFIGURATION DANCE THEATRE
10th Anniversary Celebration in 2010
Founder and Artistic Director: Joseph Cipolla
Resident Choreographer: Michael Shannon
Principal Guest Choreographer: Susan Jaffe
Prin. Choreographer: Harrison McEldowney
Natl Advisory Board: Jack Cullen, Susan Jaffe
Founder Emeritus: Catherine Batcheller

2009 REVIEW EXCERPTS
The Buffalo News (May 5)
Journalist: Steve Sucato
Ballet: Joseph Cipolla’s BREATHLESS
Ballet: Susan Jaffe’s ROYENNE
Ballet: Michael Shannon’s BEEN THERE DONE THAT, GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS and BOYS WILL BE BOYS, and WHAT HAPPENED TO US

“Configuration Dance Theatre warrants national attention. Choreographically, there were several knock-your-sox-off moments. ABT star Susan Jaffe showed she can shine as a choreographer as brightly as she did as a dancer. Her ROYENNE was world-class. Its elegant and sharp movements delivered adroitly by Erica De LA O and Raul Peinado.”

“Resident choreographer Michael Shannon’s BEEN THERE DONE THAT spans a human life cycle with choreographic skill that ranged from genius, with two utterly superb. In Shannon’s GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS and BOYS WILL BE BOYS, Young-Sil Kim, Kristen Prescott and Kontono Yamazaki sailed through Shannon’s well-crafted European-influenced choreography marked with clever gesture and phrasing. The other notable moment came in Shannon’s WHAT HAPPENED TO US, a ravishing pas de deux performed with passion by Kim and Peinado.”

“The program closed with BREATHLESS by Artistic Director Joseph Cipolla whose gem was a crisp pas de deux performed skillfully by De LA O and Peinado.”

Constructive Criticism/Opinions/Ratings on my gallery?

Posted by admin on November 29th, 2009 and filed under young gallery | 5 Comments »

Hey Everyone,

Yep, Another person who so desperately needs the opinions of others for their photography.

http://photubug.deviantart.com/gallery/

I’m 13 (male) and live in Victoria B.C.

I’m using an advanced Point and Shoot if anyone was wondering.

P.s. Please don’t rate me solely on age. It bothers me that people get positive praise only because they are young.

your camera gets awesome color! i’m guessing that you’re able to use manual settings. i really like your compositions, especially the cemetary pics.

sorry, i don’t have much criticism, just encouragement :) i really hope you continue to pursue this. you seem to have a natural eye for it.

Are the Jonas Brothers really that hot?

…and to further drive the point home….

Jonas Brothers: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2291/2170754968_a049019d2e.jpg

Now can you honestly tell me that the Jonas Brother are hot?
I purposely chose shirtless pictures to further prove my point.
Those guys aren’t that much older. I purposely picked young guys to make my point.

And I just looked at the cover of Rolling Stone, and they had shirts on. I’m sorry. I can’t get over how bad they look shirtless. And why is the one brother trying to rip the other bother’s shirt off in the pic? That’s weird.

HA. HAHAHAHA. This made my day.

And to answer your question, no. They really aren’t that hot. Actually, they aren’t hot… at all. And what’s more, they have NO TALENT. Their music just sucks.

There are many, many, many hotter musicians out there, who have more talent in one fingernail than the JoBros have all three of them combined.

Why is it so hard to find online galleries of African-American hairstyles for women?

Posted by admin on November 29th, 2009 and filed under galleries | 3 Comments »

I’m looking for ideas for my short African-American hair. For some reason, I’m having lots of trouble finding online image galleries of hairstyles to get an idea of how to have mine styled. Any suggestions?
Secret Turtle:
Google Images was the 1st place I tried. I find plenty of images of long, permed hair. My hair is short and texturized, and I find nothing that meets those qualifications. Thanks though!

It is very difficult, but that has more to do about the advertising industry and societal values. Try blackhairmedia.com, real women post their own pictures of the hair styles they have tried.

Good luck!
