How do I open my own art gallery?

I’m a sports artist, and I specialize in painting boxing portraits. I’d like to open a gallery so artists of all types can showcase their talents, and the true "starving artists" can have real "gallery opening" events just like well-funded artists do. My question is, has anyone opened their own gallery, and what steps can I expect as I follow through with my goal of opening one of my own?

How much experience do you have in running a gallery?

They have a lot of advice on the subject. Mainly that it’s not easy… But they certainly have the experience. I’ve seen a lot of galleries pop up only to close down after 3-4 months. You probably would want to avoid that…
