I just found this picture on a horse website and is it just me or is their something wrong with this girls jumping position? I’m just bored and thought i’d ask.
haha i had a feeling it wasn’t just me.
This photo tells me that the horse has not taken off correctly. I would say the horse has rushed and leaped up into the air at the first element and then realise there was another rail to come. So is then stretching to get over that last rail.
The rider has been left behind, hence the poor position and lack of leg, back, release, well everything LOL.
Either this horse is not ready to be jumping this height or could be an ancy horse who cat leaps. It is also highly likely that the horse took down that top rail with it’s hind legs, as the angle is pretty awkward.
So no it is not just you, it is a very bad example of jumping

Her leg has swung back, her heels are up as a result her back has rounded.
The way the horse is jumping seems awkward as well, though her position wouldn’t be helping.

Yeah its looks kind of off a little i don’t think its just you…

When jumping a horse that high, her heels should be down and forward and her leg should be supporting her body. Her upper body does not particularly look bad, although it could be a little squarer. You can tell that she is putting all of her weight on the horse’s back though by the way the horse jumps. He’s/she’s not round or over him/herself when he/she jumps, which is what you’re looking for

yeah her leg is far back and she should still have her heels down while going over the jump!

Definitely. Her heels aren’t even almost down, and she’s kind of pinching with her knees. The horse looks awkward. It’s not like I’ve seen a video of her riding but I have a feeling she shouldn’t be jumping that high.

Mainly it is her leg is to far back and the horse is jumping very hollow.
I will say that she is quite a tall rider and as someone who use to jump a 13.3 mare in junior open jumping and I was 5’8" I HAD to throw my legs back because if I didn’t I would take the top poles off with my feet.

Yes, definitely.
She is pinching with her knees for support which has made her lower leg slip way too far back. This, in turn, has made the horse’s balance off. Since her weight isn’t settled into her heels, she is in a precarious situation. She is also hanging on this horses mouth for balance which is punishing the horse. Now, I don’t know the circumstances, she may have had a bad jump….but I think she needs some schooling on the flat and lower jumps before she takes this on.

1.) Her legs are swinging back.
2.) Her heels should be down
It also looks like her back is a little rounded. And she should be looking up, not down. And the jump looks pretty awkward itself.
Lots of Luck!

her heels are up and way too far back. shes completely out of balance. her butt is way too far back. her back is arched. yah this is ugly! haha

Wow there is alot wrong! First off her heels need to be way far down and that would help the rest of her body to! Her back needs arched. She needs to be in more of a 2-point. Her hands need to be reached more forward towards the horses ears but not to far! The horse looks akward in the picture mostly because of her bad position and always look straight ahead over a jump never look down.

first of all, her horse has a hollowed back, which is very negative for jumping. her back is hunched, and her leg has pushed back with her toes pointing down, which means she has no support from her lower leg so its no wonder her back is improper. she really needs to start with the basics of two-point, i hate to say.

Yea. Her heels are not down, her leg is scrunched up its swung back, and her back is rounded. She also doesn’t look like she is out of the saddle enough.
