Seminar report question: Can a painting that is shown in a specific gallery space be seen as site specific art?

I know the obvious answer to this is yes otherwise it wouldn’t be that specific gallery space. However most gallery’s are the same with white walls, and Snotty up them-selves critics. So i don’t know where to stand on this.
A painting can be put anywhere?
Can a sculpture or installation?

No – ‘site specific’ means that the particular piece of work was made for that space for that particular length of time. Anish Kapoor’s Marsyas was made several years ago specifically for the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern, and dismantled when the exhibition finished, for instance.
