Jason’s Photo Gallery

Posted by admin on May 29th, 2010 and filed under picture gallery | 25 Comments »

This video has been made way back in November 2004. It is a collection of my photographs through the years. Since I was an infant, through my toddler years, childhood, adolescent, young adult and finally the present day. Featured here are my trips to the USA, England, Scotland, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Japan, India, Mexico, Malaysia, Singapore, resorts in the Philippines and mostly in my workplace in ABS-CBN. Similar to my Jason’s Video Montage upload, this music video ends with an impressive mosaic of my picture looking up to a sunset sky. These set of pictures, however, were edited on a slow beat of music and makes use of dissolve transitions rather than fast cuts. The Jason’s Photo Gallery’s musical background is that of Enya’s Book of Days. I’ve always loved Enya’s music. That’s why I picked this particular song for my picture MTV. Hope you enjoy watching as I grow up before your very eyes. :-)

This year’s Avison Ensemble Young Musicians’ Awards 2010 Final was held on Sunday, 21st March 2010 at the Shipley Art Gallery in the presence of the Sheriff of Newcastle Upon Tyne Cllr Brenda Hindmarsh. The Awards judges heard 12 finalists for the three categories of Grades 1-3, 4 – 6 and 7 and above. The winners of the three age groups were presented with engraved glass trophies created by the North East glass artist Dominic Fonde which are inscribed with music from the Avison workbooks. These are displayed in the winners’ schools for a year. The Awards were founded in 2006 and this year’s Awards have been supported by The Sir James Knott Trust.

The Avison Ensemble is the outstanding period instrument orchestra based in Newcastle upon Tyne, which plays and popularises the music of Charles Avison (1709-1770) and other English classical composers of the Baroque period, such as Garth, Arne and Herschel. The Ensemble also performs Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi, Corelli, Geminiani, Pergolesi, Teleman, Rameau, Bach, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven.

The Guitar: Art, Artists and Artisans
Showing February 12, 2010 – May 09, 2010
National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City

The guitar is the world’s most popular instrument. From its historical roots in Europe, the instrument became popular throughout the American West, evolving into an icon of cowboy music. Often a stunning visual art form, the guitar is the star of this exhibit. Learn about the making of guitars and see nearly 50 examples—including many that are historically significant or guitars that are truly works of art.

A highlight of the exhibit is the chandelier installation of Amanda Dunbar’s “Precious Rebels.” You don’t want to miss this sparkle in your eye.

This video excerpt is taken from the gallery talk given by curator Don Reeves, the Museum’s McCasland Chair of Cowboy Culture. The entire gallery talk is available for viewing on DVD at the Dickinson Research Center. Please call and make an appointment.

Jolene Goes Artsy : Corcoran Art Gallery

Posted by admin on February 14th, 2010 and filed under artist gallery | 25 Comments »

Join Jolene Sugarbaker on Jolene Goes Artsy, where she takes you BEHIND THE ART!

On this “Artsy” Mission, Jolene takes you to the Corcoran Gallery Of Art in Washington DC.

http://www.Corcoran.org

The DC Arts Commission hosts Art Salons every month, and the Corcoran was hosting a Salon this past October.

Jolene received a special invitation from the DC Arts Commission to film the event!
http://dcarts.dc.gov

While she was there, she interviewed Artist Brandon Hill, which you’ll remember from a past Jolene Goes Artsy.

Brandon was there exhibiting his artwork, including some pieces he had to create with other artists.

The group artwork had to match the style of the current Exhibitions at the Corcoran Art Gallery, which were Seargant and the Sea, and Edward Burtynsky.

These great Salons get together Art minded folks from the VA, MD and DC Area!

The President of the Corcoran Art Gallery and Art School spoke, including many people from the DC Commission. These were on loud speaker, and in a big hall. The audio didn’t turn out all that great, so it’s not included, but it was so great to see all these people!

The Arts are Alive and Well in Washington DC!

Join Jolene as she furthers the Arts in DC!

Here was info about the event:

Sketch everything and keep your curiosity fresh. -John Singer Sargent

Seeking to uphold Sargents notion of the necessity of dialogue in an artistic community, DCCAH will be hosting its monthly Art Salon at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. On October 29, join visual artists Brandon Hill, Aniekan Udofia, Tim Conlon and Chanel Compton along with musicians Maureen Andary and Kev. O as they react and interact with the Corcorans two current exhibits, Sargent and the Sea and Edward Burtynsky: Oil. This months Art Salon will be curated by Peter Chang and Shyree Mezick. All artists will be contributing original music and pieces of work to this Art Salon, a juxtaposition of the old and new that you don’t want to miss!

Date: Thursday, October 29
Time: 6:30-9:00 pm
Location: Corcoran Gallery of Art
500 17th Street NW
Washington, DC 20006

Hope you enjoy!
