My friend is 15 and wants to sell candy that she makes at home to people (not in the nieborhood but like to friends and at galleries, small stores, and stuff like that). does she need a licence or permit if she lives in austin, tx. she cant find anyone who knows. thanks in advanced.
the answer depends on how ethical she is. if she is making and selling candy out of her home, she may need to get a health permit and conform to some health standards. however, there probably won’t be any health inspectors coming by her events to check things out, so i doubt she really needs one.
the other question is her taxes. technically she would have to put the revenue and expenses on her tax return and pay taxes on the profits, but if she’s running a cash business no one would ever know, or likely care.
